Production of the PlayStation 3 in Japan will soon be completed
Game console of the new generation PlayStation 4 from Sony Japan's already 3 years old, but the production of the previous generation home gaming console - PlayStation 3 - is still going on. Yet all good things sooner or later ends, too. Japanese Sony Department announced that the production and distribution of PS3 in Japan will be completed soon.
As expected, the best PS3 console sold just in their home country, where it does not take positions on the number of copies sold in the first year of release, even highly successful PlayStation 4. Of course, now the situation is completely on the side of the PS4, but the fact that, that the PS3 has been successful for Sony, not take away.
At this point, however, it is not known, that the decision to cease production and PS3 sales in Japan will mean for the Western market, but we can assume that Sony will cease soon thereafter spread of the previous generation of consoles and in other markets. And considering the fact that the sale in addition to the original version of the PlayStation 4 have already appeared and PlayStation 4 Slim (more compact and slightly improved), as well as the PlayStation 4 Pro (which has support for 4K-resolution games and generally more powerful than previous versions), it becomes clear that Sony is fully ready to leave the past and focus its resources on supporting the current generation of consoles. In general, the situation in consoles PS4 looks much better with its main competitor in the face of consoles Xbox One from Microsoft. Recent data on the Japanese console (on January 1, 2017) indicate that the console sold worldwide circulation of 53, 4 million copies. Data on the Xbox One, in turn (in January 2016), talking about 18 million consoles sold. Now the situation is for the Xbox One should be definitely better (especially after the release of Slim-version of the console, which managed to get rid of some of the shortcomings of the original version), but Microsoft has somehow reluctant divided figures his sales statistics.
