But scientists from the University of North Carolina, according to the publication New Atlas, was able to go further and develop a technology that allows you to use the light to make flat material change shape with high accuracy.
The invention is laid in 2011 Development of the Year, during which managed to get the material, folding under the influence of infrared radiation. The material itself has quite an interesting structure: in its structure are dark areas that absorb light more intensely than light. Thus, they are more heat and as a result, are deformed, "arching" dark segment to the desired position. The disadvantage in this technology was only one: all the sites have changed the shape at the same time, so the researchers had to make the process more selective. To achieve this, it was necessary "to decorate" shape in a variety of colors, svetopogloschaemost which is located in different parts of the visible spectrum. Thus, for example, the portions painted in yellow begin deformation process earlier than those that are colored in blue.
