AI started to learn English on their own videogame

An interesting approach to teaching developers decided to use DeepMind University and Carnegie - Mellon. Teach AI languages rather tedious, so researchers decided it would be best if the artificial intelligence will be taught the basic principles of language use on their own - for this the researchers placed two neural networks in the arcade game and forced them to be chopped up blue in the face, comparing the individual objects with different characteristics to those long as they do not begin to understand the language.

For the program, trying to achieve the desired result, millions of different ways, learned to associate certain words with objects and their characteristics, and began to operate a variety of concepts such as "more" or "less", for example, and began to distinguish similar external objects of the game environment. For example, an artificial intelligence able to apply this knowledge in new situations encountered in the game columns and other objects of the same color, but, according to the task, it went to the columns, although not seen them before.

"The ultimate goal is to help move the AI in the game received knowledge in other areas of its activity", - says Devendra Chaplot, Master of Carnegie - Mellon University, who presented the report on the work team.

Video Games used by developers of DeepMind and for other purposes. With the game Sokoban, for example, AI taught imagination - before you make the next move, the program itself calculates "in mind" the options and make the right choice.
