Siemens began construction elektromagistrali eHighway
Siemens Corporation back in 2012 presented a project to build elektromagistrali, the main idea of which was as follows: while driving on this road electric car will not only deliver you to your destination, but also to recharge on the go. And now, after a series of experiments, the company started construction of the first segment of "innovative way".
The project electrified highways called eHighway, and, strictly speaking, to move on it can be used and hybrid trucks on the diesel-electric propulsion. In the past, in 2016, Siemens built the first experimental plot eHighway in Sweden near Stockholm. Now it is building a stretch of 10 kilometers in Germany, and will be part of eHighway busy A5 motorway.
Construction is carried out in the district of Hesse and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018. eHighway originates in Zeppelinheim logistics center located in Frankfurt airport and ends near Darmstadt / Weiterstadt warehouses where cargo is carried redirection for further transport.
For the development, together with representatives of Siemens meet company experts Hessen Mobil, which monitors and controls the roads traffic transportation Germany. Gerd Rigelhut said one of the representatives of Hessen Mobil,
"The new system eHighway will be used as part of an integrated transport network. It will be the proof of the benefits of environmentally neutral view of the technologies of cargo transportation in the Frankfurt area. The efficiency of hybrid transportation is 2 times higher than that of cars with internal combustion engines and the use of highway eHighway will improve the ecological situation in the region's largest airport in Europe.
