Portable determine the quality of alcoholic beverages detector called SORS. The principle of its operation is based on Raman spectroscopy. In this process the laser beam passed through the test substance (here fluid), after which analyzes changes in the frequency of the radiation caused by the scattering of light in the molecules of the substance. Since some substances interact strongly with photons others on the basis of the data obtained can build a kind of "spectral map alcoholic beverage." The studies developers experienced SORS 150 kinds of alcohol, among which there were different kinds of whiskey, rum, gin and vodka. Of a hundred samples 40 have been forged. In addition, the drinks were first tested in a sealed state, and then they opened and added to a little methanol (which causes severe intoxication, detrimental effect on the liver and nervous system). As a result, SORS could identify methanol in all alcoholic beverages, which, in addition, have been filled in bottles made of various kinds of glass. Also, the unit did a great job in identifying counterfeit and diluted product, and was able to distinguish the different varieties of whiskey from each other.
