Exoskeleton from Lockheed Martin will make the American soldiers hardier

It is no secret that, most likely, in the future it exoskeletons will be in the armies of the world. And developments in this field are today. Notorious company Lockheed Martin in collaboration with the US Department of Defense has developed a rather interesting exoskeleton that actually increase the endurance of soldiers, "weaning" them tired.

The new development is called the Onyx, and is intended primarily for driving on rough terrain, in fact, studies have shown that this is what makes men tired in 2-3 times faster, reducing the combat capability. At the core of Onyx design is more actuators, which not only reduce the load on the musculoskeletal system, but also to adapt to the tempo and rhythm of movement of its wearer. An embedded system is able to determine the type of the surrounding area, as well as the mass of the goods, who is a soldier. After this exoskeleton redistributes the load by supporting "where necessary", helping to climb the mountain or down. In this case, when driving on a flat surface and without load exoskeleton will not work, saving energy. Weight Onyx is 6, 4 kilograms, 2, 7 kilograms of which is the battery compartment. The battery life of 8 hours. In addition, there is a more severe version with a battery, the weight of 5, 4 kilograms, capable to work up to 16 hours without recharging. Adopted Onyx will come in 2020, and the first field tests, you can see right now on video, available below.
