The scientists weaned mosquitoes drink blood and spread disease

Some species of mosquitoes are actively distribute a huge number of deadly diseases, among which the number of yellow fever and Zika virus. They are transferred between organisms in drinking blood, so the researchers decided to come up with a method for controlling appetite dangerous bloodsuckers. They found that for the hunger they respond the same receptor as that of the people, and therefore considered that to solve the problem, you can use human agents to suppress appetite.

The study was conducted under the supervision of a team of scientists Laura Duvall, a professor at Rockefeller University. They knew that when saturated with blood, female mosquitoes produce special molecules called neuropeptides. In the mosquito they activate neuroceptors which prevent the feeling of hunger so long until you need another dose of the blood.

The researchers wondered if they would be able to control the insect's appetite by means of influencing the neuroceptors substances. Their take was a lot of options, but they stopped at the simplest - the scientists decided to feed the mosquitoes in human medicine to suppress appetite. The fact is that for the hunger of people and mosquitoes meet the same receptors. To test the effect of drugs, the researchers conducted an experiment. They took two mosquito groups: the first received a medication, and the second - no. Placing them in a container with a live mouse, they found that the first group almost did not touch the animal, and the second is actively beginning to eat his blood.

Spray the changing appetite of dangerous substances in mosquito habitat area, scientists can stop the spread of diseases. However, there is one problem - airborne substances can reduce even the human appetite. To prevent this, the researchers intend to create a substance that affects only the receptors present in mosquitoes.
