Found variations in genes that protect against obesity and diabetes
Obesity and diabetes - a very common problem, especially in the US. To improve people's lives, scientists are constantly looking for medications to prevent them, and each time finding new ways to influence their sources. For example, researchers from the University of Cambridge have found variations of the same genes that protect people from obesity and its symptoms - this discovery could lead to new types of drugs.
Back in 1998, scientists discovered that mutations in the MC4R gene can cause hereditary obesity person - some people are more likely to be fat deposits, which increase the body weight. Re-analysis of the same gene in the half a million volunteers showed that the gene has a variation of 61, some of which are on the contrary, can prevent fat accumulation. Also among them are the options for preventing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
New research has opened the way for a new type of drug, and shed light on the nature of obesity. According to the researcher Sadaf Farooqi, their work has once again proved that genetics plays a big role in the constitution of man. Some people are lucky because they have genes that prevent obesity.
The new concept is that genetic variants that protect against disease, can be used as models for the development of more effective and safer drugs.

Among the drugs for obesity, there are very unusual - at the beginning of 2019, researchers from MIT presented tablets that swell in the stomach. Not only do they suppress the feeling of hunger, so also within them can be transported in the organism drugs and even tiny camera.
