The first genetic mutation was identified in a 46-year-old woman, whose circadian rhythm has been set for quite a long 25 hours. In a study of its organism the researchers noticed a small mutation in CRY1 gene, which is responsible for reception of ultraviolet light cells. While for digestion, cell repair and other processes human beings have 24 hours on her all this required much more time because of the backlog of its rhythms at 2-2, 5:00.

A new study found because of what it is this backlog occurs. The fact that the human circadian rhythm every day begins with the accumulation of a protein called activators. Throughout the day, they develop their own inhibitors that suppress the physical and chemical processes and thereby interfere with my work even there most activators. CRY1 mutation in the gene results in blocking long activators and hence a lag of the internal clock. Fortunately, researchers believe that the normalization mode by using external signals, such as light. For example, in delayed sleep phase syndrome patients are advised to include on waking capacity 2500-10000 lux bright light, and before going to bed to avoid any luminescence, particularly outgoing from the screens and computer smartphones blue spectrum.

Good sleep hygiene can cause slow internal clocks to operate normally, people just need to work harder at it. It is possible that new drugs will be developed based on this knowledge.
