In fact, the Wnt in an adult organism is still present in small amounts, and even performs its function. Only now, this protein is so "strong" that can cause uncontrolled cell growth, which will lead to the development of cancer. Therefore, it wants to create a substance that would perform the same function, but whose work could be easily adjusted. And there was a FLAG.
People for decades have tried to "straighten" the Wnt proteins and make them into drugs. The problem is that these proteins are arranged in such a way that they are difficult to manage. Furthermore, lipids in the composition to prevent the dissolution of Wnt proteins in water, which makes them unsuitable as drugs.
Naturally, scientists have conducted a series of experiments. When FLAg added to cell culture, they behaved in precisely the same way as Wnt, stimulating cell growth. Thanks to a "fine-tuning" managed to stimulate the formation of stem cells derived from tissue balls that resemble small intestine.
This is interesting: A structure with extensive regenerative potential than stem cells.
But that's not all. When administered in the digestive tract FLAg laboratory mice, animals active intestinal stem cells, with one side showing that stable and functional antibodies within the organism, and on the other that the simple introduction of enough to start the regeneration process.
