Australian researchers examined the remains of Stone Age people found in China in the 70s and 80s of the last century, but until recently, remained unknown. It turned out that these fossils could say a new word in anthropology.

The remains of an ancient people were discovered in 1979 near the village of Lonlin in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, three more - in 1989 Maludone ( "Cave of the Red Deer") in the neighboring county of Yunnan province. To study finds only began in the late 2000s.

It turned out that the found bone fragments belong to a fundamentally new kind of people who have "extremely unusual" combination of ancient and modern features, writes The Daily Mail. This kind of ancient people who lived between 14 500 and 11 500 years ago, became the "youngest" of those found in Asia - before that it was believed that Homo sapiens was the only human species, to colonize the continent.

Thus, "human red deer", as it was called on the object of the hunt, lived side by side with the ancient Chinese as early as the time when the agriculture was conceived.

As suggested by Professor Darren Curnow from the Australian University of New South Wales, "red deer people" may be a descendant of a previously unknown type of people who survived the last ice age. Another assumption of the same scientist - that this man is a descendant of "the first wave of migration" from Africa, more ancient than previously thought.
