The construction of an unusual sculpture began in September 2016. According to community members, the action had several goals - they wanted to draw attention to the problem of recycling of raw materials, to show that the citizens are not ready to separate collection, as well as to make the city into the Guinness Book of Records.
In order to collect material activists installed in special red barrels, which were asked to put only plastic bottles. However, in the early days of collecting in them it is up to 90 percent of household waste. The organizers did not give up and continued to share.
In the course of the experiment, when I went to the information campaign, the bottles was 50 to 50. But that was only the plastic - this was not even a single time.
According to activists, the volume of bottles needed for the construction of the elephant, on a daily basis sent for processing to Arkhangelsk garbage plant. And yet five of these "elephants" daily transported to the city dump. Despite this, "junk rally" stretched out until the new year. In mid-December, "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" wrote that sculpture still be removed, because at that time was able to build only a head and two legs.
The date for the building is constantly postponed, and the city received a walking joke that the elephant will be another unfinished. The organizers, in turn, assured that the giant beast will be completed and its construction prevents the northern weather and a lack of hands.
